Our Story

They are currently pursuing new ways to make art to put into the world, not just on stages. Strange Reflection Designs is a way for us to do that. Expand our offerings, give a presence, build a brand, support art made by human hands, for humans to wear, and humans to see.

Erik and Aaron met when they attended Boston University together over ten years ago. They became lifelong friends and eager collaborators. After graduation Erik headed to DC and Aaron headed to Wisconsin. Erik has been working as a costume designer and master craftsman across the country. Aaron has been designing lights and projections, while teaching at Lawrence University. Just before the pandemic they were able to work together on a show for the first time since graduating. With theatres across the world shut down, they started up a weekly D&D game to get through lockdown.

In the fall of 2020, Aaron approached Erik with the idea of collaborating on some new projects. The first became an adventure on the DMs Guild, Of Water, Tentacles, and Bones. The second was more ambitious. We launched a kickstarter in March of 2021 to create and publish The Phantom of the Opera. Over the next six months we wrote our version and Erik brought it to life in his signature style.

As the world became safer to gather in, they both got back to working in theatres.
